Oman utilizes AI to enhance media guidance and strategic planning for electoral campaigns.

In a pioneering and successful experiment, the Sultanate of Oman utilized artificial intelligence and electronic voting technologies in the tenth session of the Omani Consultative Council elections. Two dedicated applications, "Intikhab" and "Intikhabat," were developed to facilitate the electoral process through smartphones and enhance the participation of a larger number of Omani voters, both inside and outside the Sultanate. Dr. Ali Al-Shaibani, the Deputy Minister of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, affirmed that this step represents an unprecedented digital transformation in all aspects of the electoral process.

Al-Shaibani pointed out that the election-specific applications rely on modern technologies and user-friendly design to improve the voting experience and increase voter satisfaction. The digital transformation process extends beyond the voting process itself, encompassing the registration of citizens in the electoral register, candidate registration, election campaigns, voting by eligible citizens within and outside the Sultanate, and concludes with the accurate counting of votes and the announcement of results across various regions of the Sultanate. He emphasized that Oman employs artificial intelligence to periodically analyze voter turnout in all regions of the Sultanate based on age and gender categories to enhance the effectiveness of media guidance and strategic planning for electoral campaigns.
