AI Minister in the UAE: 'AI will replace humans if they do not adopt AI technologies'
Omar Sultan Al Olama emphasized that adding AI to various aspects of life is a key factor for success in this century
In his address at the Digital Assembly for Generative AI conference in Dubai, Omar Sultan Al Olama, the Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, emphasized the significant impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on society.
He stated that AI has the potential to replace human roles if people do not embrace AI technologies. Al Olama stressed that adopting AI is essential, as it can enhance completeness in life, while neglecting it could lead to adverse consequences. He also highlighted the rapid changes in the job market driven by technology, where some jobs, like social media influencers, may not necessarily be essential.
Al Olama discussed the efficiency of modern technology, noting that advancements have enabled companies to achieve substantial success with fewer employees. He emphasized the need for pragmatism when embracing AI and addressing concerns about its potential impact. Al Olama cited Elon Musk's example, who both highlights the dangers of AI and invests heavily in AI-related projects. He emphasized that adding intelligence to various aspects of life is a key factor for success in the current century, akin to the role electricity played in the previous century, as seen in the development of cars and light bulbs.
