Apple is said to be spending millions of dollars daily in the training of AI

Apple believes that its most advanced language model, Ajax, is more powerful than ChatGPT

According to a recent report from The Information, Apple is heavily investing millions of dollars per day in artificial intelligence (AI) development. The company is actively pursuing various AI projects with multiple teams dedicated to different aspects of AI research. One notable team, called "Foundational Models," comprises approximately 16 members, including former Google engineers, and is led by John Giannandrea, Apple's head of AI. Giannandrea, who joined Apple in 2018 to enhance Siri's capabilities, has reportedly expressed doubts about the utility of AI-powered chatbots.

Additionally, Apple has other teams working on AI initiatives, such as a Visual Intelligence unit focused on image generation models and a group researching "multimodal AI" capable of recognizing and generating images, video, and text. These AI models are being developed for various purposes, including creating chatbots for customer interactions through AppleCare and streamlining complex tasks using Siri.
