Bayanat is harnessing AI to support urban planning in Abu Dhabi
Bayanat is actively advancing Abu Dhabi through the adoption of cutting-edge data technology and strengthening international cooperation
Abu Dhabi's geospatial data provider, Bayanat, led by Managing Director Hasan Al Hosani, is embracing artificial intelligence (AI) to bolster the emirate's urban planning efforts. Bayanat's objective is to convert data products into valuable information, offering recurring data-as-a-service products across various sectors, including national infrastructure, oil and gas, and municipal infrastructure.
Al Hosani emphasizes AI's profound impact on the geospatial industry, enhancing data analysis accuracy and enabling real-time decision-making in fields like agriculture, urban planning, and disaster management. Bayanat also plans to leverage new satellites and sensor technology to collect geospatial data with exceptional precision, supporting Abu Dhabi's autonomous vehicle and smart city initiatives.
Additionally, Bayanat emphasizes ethical AI use to foster market trust and drive transformative changes in various industries. As part of its efforts, the company is developing solutions for optimized route planning, resource allocation, and asset tracking, which can benefit autonomous vehicles and smart city development. Established following the commercialization of the UAE's Military Survey Department, Bayanat offers national-level mapping and geospatial services and was acquired by G42 in 2020.
Abu Dhabi is currently working on the Plan Abu Dhabi 2030 initiative to address development needs, including the establishment of a Smart and Autonomous Vehicles Industry cluster at Masdar City, aiming to diversify the economy and generate thousands of jobs. Bayanat's focus on AI aligns with the growing global geospatial analytics market, expected to reach $207 billion by 2030.
