Bing's recently introduced 'Deep Search' functionality provides more extensive responses to intricate search inquiries

The "Deep Search" feature is capable of handling ambiguous queries by identifying multiple possible intents and creating a comprehensive description for each one

Microsoft Bing is introducing a new "Deep Search" feature powered by OpenAI's GPT-4. This feature aims to provide users with more relevant and thorough responses to complex search queries. It's important to note that Deep Search is not intended to replace Bing's existing web search but rather to enhance it by enabling more in-depth exploration of the web.

Deep Search builds upon Bing's current web index and ranking system, leveraging GPT-4 to transform search queries into comprehensive descriptions of what the results should include. For example, if a user searches for information about loyalty programs in Japan, Deep Search will expand the query to provide detailed explanations of various loyalty card programs in Japan, comparisons with other payment methods, and more.

Deep Search can even handle ambiguous queries by identifying different possible intents and creating comprehensive descriptions for each one. Once the expanded descriptions are generated, Bing retrieves relevant results that may not appear in typical search results, expanding the scope of the search to cover various aspects of the query.

However, Deep Search is an optional feature that may take up to 30 seconds to complete, so it is not suitable for every query or user. Those who prefer quicker results can still access regular Bing search results instantly.
