Instagram's latest update: AI-generated custom stickers for reels and stories

The new features are rolling out starting today on Instagram

In a major Instagram update, users can now create custom stickers for their Reels and Stories using AI, driven by Meta's Segment Anything AI model. These stickers can be generated from personal photos or videos in your phone's Camera Roll or selected from eligible media on Instagram. The AI model simplifies the process by allowing users to effortlessly "cut out" objects from images, similar to Apple's iOS 16 image cutout feature. Users can choose to manually adjust the sticker subject if needed. This feature is accessible under the "Create" option in the sticker search entry box, separate from the previously introduced text-based AI stickers. Alongside this innovation, Instagram has introduced various other creator-focused features, including undo and redo for Reels, advanced editing tools, and new audio options.

Additionally, Instagram has surprising updates like new photo filters, text-to-speech voices, fonts, styles, and outline support. The platform has enhanced user experience by offering improved audio and camera roll access, as well as streamlined drafts management. Creators will also benefit from a new Reels metric called "Replays," which will be combined with "Initial Plays" to provide a comprehensive "Plays" figure, aiding in audience reach analysis. These updates are gradually rolling out to Instagram users.
