LinkedIn saw a significant 70% increase in AI-related conversations from December 2022 to September 2023, underscoring the growing importance of artificial intelligence in the workplace. Additionally, there was a 12% surge in AI-related job postings across seven major economies, as reported by LinkedIn.
The LinkedIn Economic Graph Research Institute also noted an 11% global growth in AI job applications during the same period. In India, there was a 6% increase in AI-related job views and a 5% rise in applications, with the highest interest coming from professional services, technology information and media, financial services, administrative and support services, and manufacturing sectors. The report highlighted that 55% of LinkedIn members worldwide are likely to experience job disruption or augmentation due to AI, particularly affecting professional services, finance, and manufacturing industries.
The report further indicated that professionals with bachelor's and graduate degrees are more vulnerable to job disruption compared to those with high school diplomas and associate degrees. Women are more likely to experience job disruption or augmentation due to their concentration in roles easily replicable by AI. Among sectors, professional services, finance, and manufacturing are expected to be most impacted by AI, as they have a high concentration of routine and repetitive tasks that can be automated by AI technology.
