52% of travelers in the UAE and 50% in Saudi Arabia have used AI to help them in planning their trips

In the Middle East's travel trends highlighted by Marriott Bonvoy’s 2024 Future Travel Trends research, Artificial Intelligence (AI) emerges as a pivotal tool in holiday planning. Over 50% of travelers from the UAE and KSA are already utilizing AI for this purpose, and a significant 77% express likelihood to use it in the future. The impact of AI on travel decisions is profound: it influences choices from accommodation to activities and dining, with over 90% of users in both regions acknowledging its influence on their holiday decisions.

AI’s role in shaping travel trends is complemented by a growing emphasis on sustainability and ‘slow travel’. Travelers are increasingly willing to pay more for eco-friendly accommodations, and there's a notable shift towards immersive, environmentally considerate travel experiences. Additionally, ‘dupe destinations’ offer similar experiences to well-known locations but are more accessible and cost-effective, aligning with the trend of seeking value while leveraging AI for planning. Despite an inclination towards sustainable and thoughtful travel, the research indicates a rise in overall spending on holidays, with a focus on value for money.
