Remote jobs are at a higher risk of being replaced by AI

Nicholas Bloom from Stanford University mentioned that AI is expected to have an effect on "fully remote workers in low-level roles."

Remote workers, particularly those engaged in low-level tasks like call centers and data entry, could face heightened vulnerability to new AI technology, according to Stanford University economist Nicholas Bloom. He expressed that AI's potential to replicate tasks involving communication and voice is evident, yet the technology's inability to handle in-person nuances remains a challenge. Bloom estimated that within the next 3 to 5 years, low-skill job roles, often outsourced, could be significantly impacted by AI-driven replacements, particularly in fully remote setups.

Bloom also highlighted how workers are adapting to incorporate AI-powered tools to enhance productivity, while companies are creating tailored AI solutions to improve work efficiency. Despite AI's advancements, Bloom emphasized the enduring need for in-person interactions and emotional intelligence in certain job aspects, suggesting that AI could work synergistically with hybrid workers to amplify their output.
