Sam Altman has been fired from his position as CEO of OpenAI due to allegations of lying. This decision was based on the conclusion reached by the board, which considered that he was not always candid in his communication with them

Sam Altman has been ousted from his position as CEO of OpenAI, following a decision by the board that cited his lack of consistent transparency in communications as a hindrance to their responsibilities. The board expressed a loss of confidence in his leadership.

In response to his removal, Mira Murati, the Chief Technology Officer, has assumed the role of interim CEO, while a search for a permanent successor is underway. Altman, who was a prominent figure at OpenAI, expressed his fondness for his time with the company and compared the experience of his firing to reading his own eulogy.

In addition to Altman's departure, co-founder and president Greg Brockman stepped down as chairman of the board but remained with the company. Both Altman and Brockman were informed of their removal by OpenAI co-founder and chief scientist Ilya Sutskever, who is also a board member. Altman's sudden exit comes after recent high-profile appearances for OpenAI, including a keynote at their DevDay conference and participation in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation conference. Despite this change, Microsoft, a major investor in OpenAI, expressed continued commitment to the company's partnership and vision for the future of AI.
