The Emirates Post and MBZUAI launch the first set of postage stamps designed using AI
This is the first of its kind in the region in the field of postage stamps
Emirates Post has announced a collaboration with Mohammed Bin Zayed University "MBZUAI" for Artificial Intelligence to release a collection of postage stamps created using generative artificial intelligence in celebration of the UAE's fifty-second National Day. This unique release in the region signifies Emirates Post's commitment to harnessing advanced technologies to highlight the inspiring journey of the UAE, preserve its rich heritage, and contribute to shaping its future.
The Computer Vision department at MBZUAI led this initiative, creating postage stamps using generative AI to serve as digital artworks reflecting the country's rich cultural heritage and ambitious national aspirations. The stamps showcase prominent landmarks of the UAE, including Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and the Burj Khalifa, alongside symbols reflecting the country's commitment to sustainability. Each stamp has a resolution of 2048x2048 pixels.
The university's team utilized a multi-modal approach to synchronize the latest text-to-image transformation algorithms, employing their own image generation system. This approach integrated real-world data, such as traditional attire, architectural styles, historical elements, and future aspects, resulting in watercolor-style artworks that blend artistry with technical expertise.
