The Ministry of Interior in Oman has launched an AI-powered app "Intakhib" for elections voting

The application incorporates AI to serve individuals with visual and hearing impairments

In Muscat, Sayyid Hamoud Faisal al Busaidi, the Minister of Interior, unveiled the second edition of the AI-powered "Intakhib" (Elect) app on Monday. This upgraded app will be utilized for electronic voting in the upcoming Majlis A'Shura elections scheduled for October 29. According to the Ministry of Interior, there are 753,690 registered voters, including 362,844 women.

The newly launched version incorporates advanced AI technologies to cater to individuals with visual and hearing impairments, simplifying the voting process through sign language for those with hearing disabilities and audio reading for individuals with visual impairments. The Social Development Minister commended the Ministry of Interior and partner agencies for this significant achievement, emphasizing the app's role in facilitating voting for people with disabilities.

Dr. Ali bin Amer al Shidhani, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Technology, and Information Technology for Communications, noted that the AI-powered app will provide a comprehensive, statistical, and graphical overview of the electoral process.
