The International Center was established to promote ethical technologies and the use of AI

The Saudi Cabinet has approved the establishment of an international center for AI Research and Ethics during its Tuesday session, chaired by Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, who also serves as the Crown Prince and the head of the council. The center will be headquartered in Riyadh, and its aim is to promote ethical practices in adopting AI technologies and to support research, development, and innovation initiatives at both the national and international levels, with a focus on ethical and responsible use of AI technologies.

The creation of this center is part of a series of steps and legislation taken by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to enhance the use of smart technologies and digital solutions, positioning the country as a leader in providing digital services and advanced technological options.

Dr. Abdullah Al-Ghamdi, the head of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (Sdaia), emphasized the importance of this center in bolstering Saudi Arabia's regional and international role in the field of AI research, and the ethical application of its technologies. In September 2022, Saudi Arabia introduced ethical principles for AIdeveloped by Sdaia, encouraging all stakeholders to familiarize themselves with them to facilitate their practical implementation.
