Will AI have an effect on cybersecurity jobs?
Due to its constraints, AI is unable to completely take the place of human cybersecurity experts.
The cybersecurity job landscape is marked by high demand and varied roles, with a 350 percent increase in job openings from 2013 to 2021. The need for cybersecurity experts remains substantial due to a shortage of professionals. This shortage requires IT workers to also take on security responsibilities.
While AI and machine learning gain traction in cybersecurity, concerns about job displacement persist. However, AI can't fully replace human cybersecurity professionals due to its limitations. AI lacks human intuition, creativity, and decision-making skills, and may struggle with novel threats and contextual understanding. Although AI is beneficial for threat detection and network security, it can't replicate the critical thinking and adaptability of human experts. A collaboration between AI and human professionals is essential for a robust cybersecurity framework that combines AI's capabilities with human insight and ethics.
