World's largest AI robot paves the way for significant aircraft inspection cost reduction
The robot will use cameras and AI to give planes a health check
Norse Atlantic Airways and Avinxt are partnering to employ a massive robot powered by green technology and artificial intelligence for aircraft-related tasks such as de-icing, washing, and engine maintenance. This innovative solution not only enhances the appearance of the planes but also reduces air resistance, leading to potential fuel savings of up to two percent. Avinxt will commence robot construction in 2024, capable of servicing various aircraft types, including large passenger planes, smaller private aircraft, and military planes.
In addition to cost efficiency, Norse aims to reduce its carbon footprint by four percent through Avinxt's robot technology. Using cameras and AI, the robot conducts comprehensive health checks on planes within hours, a process that previously took weeks. Avinxt plans to establish on-site facilities at airports to collect and recycle environmentally harmful fluids used for de-icing and washing, significantly benefiting both the environment and airline costs. This collaboration represents a step towards modernizing aviation processes with innovative and eco-friendly solutions.
