ChatGPT's new feature allows users to generate images and create illustrated books

Sam Altman showcased the ability to write and illustrate children's bedtime stories using simple prompts

OpenAI has merged its AI image generator, DALL-E 3, with the popular ChatGPT chatbot. DALL-E 3 promises to deliver more nuanced and detailed image generation compared to its predecessors. By combining these two AI tools, users can now engage in creative brainstorming with artificial intelligence. For instance, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman showcased the ability to write and illustrate children's bedtime stories using simple prompts.

The integration aims to overcome issues seen in existing text-to-image systems like misinterpreting user commands, often requiring prompt engineers to optimize results.

DALL-E 3 is natively built on ChatGPT, allowing users to refine prompts and generate highly detailed images in response to nuanced requests. This enhanced version will initially be available to paying users, with ChatGPT Plus and ChatGPT Enterprise users receiving the upgrade in October.

OpenAI has also introduced safety features to prevent the creation of inappropriate or offensive images, including the exclusion of certain words and refusal to depict public figures. These measures address concerns about the misuse of AI technology.
