Getty Images has unveiled a Generative AI tool, developed in collaboration with Nvidia, designed to generate images from textual prompts. This tool is built upon a portion of Getty's extensive library, encompassing approximately 477 million assets.

Users of the tool will receive Getty's standard royalty-free license, offering protection against copyright issues and the right to perpetual, worldwide, nonexclusive use across various media.

While it comes with safeguards to prevent misuse, such as disinformation or replicating an artist's style, it also marks AI-generated images with a watermark. Getty plans to compensate contributors whose work helped train the AI model and share the revenues generated.
