Samsung unveils 'Galaxy AI' and a real-time phone call translation feature

The company has announced that Galaxy AI is scheduled for release "in the early part of the upcoming year"

In a recent blog post, Samsung emphasized its commitment to AI, introducing what it refers to as a "new era of Galaxy AI" for its smartphones. They highlighted an upcoming feature called "AI Live Translate Call," which utilizes artificial intelligence to translate phone calls in real time, integrated into Samsung's native phone app. This development combines on-device AI developed by Samsung with cloud-based AI through collaborations with industry leaders, promising to enhance mobile experiences while prioritizing security and privacy.

Samsung anticipates the rollout of Galaxy AI in early next year, suggesting it might be integrated into the Galaxy S24 smartphone lineup set to launch in 2024. Furthermore, Samsung showcased its generative AI model, Gauss, at a recent event, hinting at its significant role in future Galaxy devices. AI-driven features are emerging as a competitive arena among smartphone manufacturers, with Google and Apple also heavily investing in AI-powered tools for their devices. Additionally, the emergence of AI-focused hardware products, such as Humane's cellular-enabled AI Pin, poses a new challenge for smartphone makers in the AI landscape.
